A visit Windsor Castle
01 May 2023
As part of the Coronation celebrations, customers from our Community Lives learning disability services in RBWM were invited to visit Windsor Castle to learn more about the Coronation and find out what it was all about. Sophie from the Pug Yard Education Centre talked about the history of the coronation and the royal family and showed us some of the items used during the service and celebration. Customers were able to try some activities out for themselves and were challenged to lay a banquet table in record time. During the morning, they also tried on the robes and regalia whilst sitting in the actual thrones that were used during the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations last year.
The group visited St. Georges Chapel and saw where Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip are laid to rest and then had a tour around the castle seeing the State Apartments, Queen Mary’s Dolls House and the huge Banquet Hall that is used for special dinners, it was MUCH bigger than the one in rehearsal. It was a great experience which really brought home how special the occasion is.
