Community Lives Host Christmas Trail
22 December 2023
The Community Lives Leaning Disability Team at Boyn Grove in Maidenhead transformed the Sensory Room and Garden into Santa’s Grotto this week. We invited our local community to join us in the celebrating the festive season and were astounded by the positive response, with over 100 people coming through the doors!
Families, our customers, staff and their loved ones too, came to enjoy the Light Trail taking selfies and dancing to the music whilst waiting patiently to see Father Christmas, who was being helped by Mother Christmas and his Elves. The children were all able to choose a gift of a Christmas Tree decoration, handmade by our ArtAble groups, these were made from pine cones transformed into Penguins, Elves, Santa’s, Snowmen and Carol Singers.
It was a wonderful, inclusive event which received feedback from several families to say how lovely it was to be able to bring their children to see Santa in an environment where they could just be themselves. After seeing Father Christmas a Hot Chocolate and Burger were available to help warm everyone up. It was amazing to see so many new faces join us and be able to bring joy to all, a great evening was had by all.
A huge thanks also goes out to our team and volunteers for orchestrating and generously contributing their time to make this event extraordinary.
