Emma celebrates 20 years at Optalis
22 November 2017
One of Optalis’ senior carers, Emma Turner has just celebrated 20 years at Cockayne Court, an extra care scheme for older people with dementia in Finchampstead. Last week, friends and colleagues gathered for a celebration and official presentation at the service to mark Emma’s career milestone and thank her for two decades of hard work and commitment to Cockayne Court.
Emma said, “I can’t believe I have worked at Cockayne Court for 20 years. I enjoy working here so much, the time has flown. I like the service and the customers – it’s like a second home for me and the people I work with are like my family.”
Emma originally joined Optalis as a Carer at Cockayne Court and progressed to Senior and now Operational Lead. She says, “I used to be very quiet but the longer I have been here, the more confident I have become. The world of care has really changed over the years as people enjoy better health for much longer now. This means they can live independently and stay in the comfort of their own homes with carers coming in when we are needed.”
Manuel Vieira, Care at Home Registered Manager said, “Emma has been an asset to Cockayne Court over the years. She is dedicated, caring and compassionate, a role model in the world of caring. We appreciate her commitment to the service and I know our customers and colleagues feel the same. Optalis is going from strength to strength as we expand beyond Wokingham into new areas such as the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead. We have around 650 people working at Optalis now and as we grow we are keen for more people with the same dedication and compassion as Emma to join us.”
Optalis provides a range of services for older people with dementia and people with a learning disability in a variety of settings including residential, independent living, extra care, day services, brokerage and support and reablement. Renowned for our exceptional standards and focus on career development Optalis offers the perfect opportunity to thrive in a company underpinned by our core values – customer service, respect, transparency and integrity, communication, continuous development and enjoyable and rewarding.
