Focused Friends support Local Rescue Animals

This month, Focused Friends have turned their fundraising efforts towards a local animal charity.

Paula, a member of the group, explained: “We're filling doggy bags and they are going to the Diana Brimblecombe Animal Rescue Centre." The group has been hard at work raising funds and gathering donations for the cats, dogs, rabbits, and hamsters in need at the centre.

Focused Friends is a group of people with learning disabilities who meet at the Wokingham Community Lives day service. They talk about local issues, discuss how they can play a part in their community and look at how the people we support in Wokingham services can have their say about things that matter to them.

When Focused Friends reached out to the charity, the staff shared that rescue animals are often hesitant to eat. However, they mentioned that many of the animals can’t resist a tasty treat. Inspired by this, the group got to work, collecting and packing an impressive 30 bags of mixed dog treats and 20 bags of cat treats along with a host of rabbit and hamster treats.

In addition to the treats, Focused Friends collected a range of toys, hoping to bring a bit of fun and playfulness to the rescue animals. Over the next few weeks, they’ll be delivering the donations directly to the charity, eager to see the animals enjoy their gifts.
