Optalis wins Extra Care Contract for Nicholson House in Abingdon
10 February 2016
Optalis is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract to provide care and support services for an Extra Care scheme in Abingdon – our first substantial contract in Oxfordshire.
Wokingham-based Optalis, a Local Authority Trading company that provides social care and support to adults with learning disabilities older people, was awarded the contract by Oxfordshire County Council at the beginning of the year. Eighteen staff will transfer to Optalis on 15 February.
The care and support service will be provided at Nicholson House, Abingdon. The scheme consists of 61 flats for elderly people with extra care needs. Housing provider Sovereign manages the accommodation and there will be an Optalis on-site team of carers who can provide flexible levels of support and personal care on a 24- hour basis. Optalis will also be managing the catering and activities for residents.
Mette Le Jakobsen, Optalis Managing Director said, “Optalis is thrilled to be working with Oxfordshire County Council to provide this vital service to local residents. We welcome our new colleagues and look forward to working with and excellent new team.”
Anthony Pollock, Optalis Chairman added, “This is great news and shows how Optalis is continuing to build its reputation and business beyond Berkshire.”
