As the schools go back...
It’s September and summer is almost at an end, which means back to school and back to quite a lot of traffic on the roads. We are having fun negotiating our way around the frequent road works which makes our journeys to customers a little bit of an obstacle course as we dodge the traffic cones and additional trafficlights. I applaud the team for their calmness and patience manoeuvering their way round as it’s certainly been a challenge, and they have more patience than I think I would have in their position.
As a small team we have been particularly affected by being short-staffed for various reasons over the last month or so and colleagues have all been excellent in stepping up and rising to the challenge, volunteering for extra shifts which can involve longer days and additional weekend working. This is all to ensure that the service and ultimately the customers do not receive anything other than the high standard that is expected of them. Colleagues have all gone above and beyond and deserve a great big THANK YOU although I think their preference is for the chocolate and doughnuts supplied on a daily basis - failure to do this on my part would result in mutiny!
During our team meetings the recurring theme is growing our service, which everyone is focused on and keen to see progress - but without more staff it would be difficult so if you would like to join our dedicated team please contact me on Sharon.cowie@optalis.org.
