Suffolk Lodge sponsored walk at Dinton Pastures on Sunday 18 September

Optalis-run Suffolk Lodge, a residential home in Wokingham for people with dementia will be making tracks this weekend in honour of one of their clients.

Suffolk Lodge’s oldest client Alice Gibson (pictured ) is an amazing 104 years of age. To mark this milestone and also to help raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society, Alice’s daughter Christine Ware has arranged a 5km (around 3 miles) Memory Walk at Dinton Pastures in Wokingham.

Optalis Colleagues plus friends and family are taking part either by coming along on the walk on Sunday 18th September at 5pm or sponsoring one of the Suffolk Lodge team taking part.

Rachel Mfundiri who is team leader on Cedar Unit at Suffolk Lodge where Alice is a resident is taking part in the walk together with colleagues Asheena and Hamis.

Rachel says, “I consider it a privilege to be involved on a daily basis with my clients, each of them having lived a very fulfilling life, which is then cruelly changed in such a dramatic way, by the symptoms and daily challenges of living with dementia. The walks that are being planned, are a great way of raising awareness of Alzheimer’s so that all of us have a better understanding of what is means to be living with dementia, for both sufferers and family members/loved ones.”

Everyone is welcome to join the team on their walk around Dinton Pastures on Sunday 18th September or you can make a donation online: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/MW16christineware – or you can email Christine Ware (cware2606@gmail.com) if you require any more information.

Many thanks for your support.
