Woodley Day Service is moving to a new home!
21 July 2014
For some time, Optalis has been seeking an alternative venue to host the service. Currently, Bulmershe Leisure Centre is the base for the Woodley Day Service for people with a learning disability, but recently it was decided that Woodford Park (also in Woodley) would make a much more appropriate base. One of the main reasons for seeking an alternative venue has been based on the need for some ground floor space to improve accessibility for our customers.
It's a positive and exciting step in the development of the service. The building its self has a combination of both ground floor and first floor accommodation, surrounded by open park land and leisure facilities. We are currently working with Woodley Town Council and Wokingham Borough Council, who are making some minor alterations to the interiors in preparation for the service to move in.
In addition, Optalis are working with Wokingham Borough Council Transport and Keep Mobile to ensure any alterations to transport routes are kept to a minimum.
The planned date for the new site to be up a running is the September 1, 2014.
